The First Step

Growing up with a biker father, you meet quite a few interesting people. There were many times we would be out and about riding or at some event and I would witness other bikers being made fun of just because they rode a “crotch rocket”. I would get built up in that energy as a young impressionable child as well. Until one day I finally watched my father while it went on. I remember seeing his emotionless face and I asked him what he thought about this man having a different style bike and not being a biker. He said,

“Ian, you can’t be a biker if you don’t have a bike. It’s as simple as that.”

It did not matter the style nor the engine size. These words stuck with me of course, but how far does it apply to other aspects/ interests or hobbies around the world? It turns out it applies to ALL of them.

There are many writers that have a mind set that writing really should be pen and pencil to paper or an old typewriter. I am here to open that gate and establish that it should be about the production of content with words. No matter the media. You are not a writer unless you are writing. Journaling, notes in your phone app, google docs, typewriter…no matter the media, if you produce writings, you are a writer at heart.

I have grown into my adulthood with ADHD my entire life and let me tell you how many journals I’d start and never finish to try and get myself writing (around 30). Well…it just is not the media type for me to write. I must have something to create accountability, something more modern to help put it on the wall for myself. I have friends who have done therapeutic writing and printed their writings on the wall to help them keep their drive going. I even have friends new to the hobby who have sought my advice. So here we are, my media feels to be an interactive blog space for progression of thought and interests. I enjoy helping others grow and to have them see their own potential. Why not mix it all together and help those anonymously online by creating a comfortable space. Hopefully one’s question is responded to by myself and helps others unsure of how to ask the question. Where does it go from here? It’s exciting I must say. So here is the first step. Here is to you and me.
